Lent
The day after “Fat Tuesday”, which is known as Ash Wednesday, begins Olde Tyme’s busiest season. On Ash Wednesday and Friday’s during Lent, Catholic’s abstain from meat, so seafood becomes a meal staples on these days. South Louisiana is known for its seafood and here at Olde Tyme, we have been selling crawfish poor boys on Friday’s for years. Locals fill the building in the midst of the chaos to get their crawfish or shrimp poor boys. It is an experience one will never forget.
As people crowd into Olde Tyme, our employees are working hard to produce high quality poor boys at a fast pace. They work long hours, but enjoy the hustle and bustle in the kitchen. After their 40 days of hard work, they are rewarded with an Olde Tyme Grocery Lent T-Shirt. While this may not seem like much, these are some of the most coveted shirts in Lafayette and are only worn by those that have put in blood, sweat, and tears.
